The Challenge

Hosted by TanZ Navigation, the Delaplane 8-Hour is a true test of winter grit. Located in the beautiful rolling piedmont of Delaplane, Virginia, teams will navigate through dense woodlands and ride sweeping trails.

Racers will use a map and compass to locate checkpoints while alternating between trekking and mountain biking disciplines. Strategy is key—route choice will determine your success.

Check-in Opens

Packet pickup, map distribution, and gear check. Coffee will be available.

07:30

Pre-Race Briefing

Mandatory for all captains. Final course updates and safety check.

08:00

RACE START

Mass start. The clock begins for the 8-hour cutoff.

16:00

Finish Line Closes

All teams must check in. Penalty points apply for every minute late.

16:30

Post-Race Meal

Hot food, drink, and route analysis discussions with other teams.

Awards Ceremony

Podium presentations and prize giving. Held at the main pavilion.

January in Delaplane can be freezing. Be prepared for temperatures between 20°F - 40°F.
